Multi-functional materials such as fire-proof acoustic foams can help increase comfort in commercial and residential buildings. Our facilities evaluate sound absorption characteristics following ISO 354:2003 and ASTM C423-22 test procedures and test facility requirements.
Experiments were conducted at the AAF to review its capabilities in developing an Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL) using a turbulence grid and passive roughness elements. The entire setup is built as a modular system which can be modified within minutes, and entirely assembled/disassembled within a few hours.
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools were applied by an FYDP project supervised by Prof. Zhang to study the aerodynamics of a generic LMP racing car model. The CFD support was provided by AAF's engineer to train and advise the students on their CFD activities.
