Collaborative research between HKUST, the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong is evaluating the impact of urban design on street-level aerodynamics and pedestrian comfort.
Multi-functional materials such as fire-proof acoustic foams can help increase comfort in commercial and residential buildings. Our facilities evaluate sound absorption characteristics following ISO 354:2003 and ASTM C423-22 test procedures and test facility requirements.
Experiments were conducted at the AAF to review its capabilities in developing an Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL) using a turbulence grid and passive roughness elements. The entire setup is built as a modular system which can be modified within minutes, and entirely assembled/disassembled within a few hours.
