The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has recently established the Aerodynamics and Acoustics Facility (AAF). The AAF hosts a large low-speed wind tunnel, an anechoic chamber, a reverberation chamber, and various other flow-acoustic facilities, catering to a wide range of research needs both locally and beyond. The AAF is seeking a high-caliber candidate to take up the position of Senior Manager (Engineering).

Applicants should have a master’s degree in an engineering or science discipline with at least 10 years of relevant experience, or a higher degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience. Relevant experience in management of wind tunnel facility and acoustic facilities’ improvement, wind tunnel operational and scheduling, and technical improvement is needed. Experience and knowledge in aerodynamic and acoustic testing and operational principles, academic and industry-sponsored projects and proven record of prior project experience related to aerodynamics and acoustics (computational work may also be included) are required.
The ideal candidate should also have experience in the application of general engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with an ability to organize, plan, schedule, and coordinate multiple workstreams to meet deadlines and milestones, with a focus on project leadership, aerodynamic and acoustic measurement techniques, data acquisition, signal conditioning and model instrumentation. Proficiency in MATLAB and MS Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and excellent technical writing skills is needed. Experience in LabVIEW and National Instrument System and/or resources management (e.g., client and scheduling) in developing project proposals is desirable. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
